Little Nordic Nisse Joys
Tiny handmade treasures filled with Norwegian Christmas magic
Meet the little Nisse family called Little Nordic Nisse Joys, who always return to our home when Christmas is approaching.
Over the years, I’ve made many kinds of Nisser – big ones, small ones, traditional and playful ones –
but these tiny Nisse have somehow earned a special place in the heart of our holiday décor.
Even though they are small, they are full of charm, warmth, and that very particular feeling of an authentic Norwegian Christmas.
When the season arrives and the lights are lit indoors and out, we bring out these handmade treasures – and instantly the whole house feels a little softer, a little warmer, and a little more filled with Christmas joy.

A little touch of Norway in the smallest corners
These Nisser may only be 7–8 centimeters tall, but they carry the atmosphere of a cozy Scandinavian Christmas.
Made from simple materials – felt, pipe cleaners, wooden beads, and stitched by hand with a smile – they’re more than decorations.
They were created during quiet winter evenings, they carry old craft traditions,
and they remind us of the Norwegian Christmas stories where the Nisse always had an important role.
For me, they bring back childhood memories, old folklore, and the simple truth that small handmade things can bring great joy.

Where these little Nisse love to settle during Christmas
Part of their charm is that they can live almost anywhere – and they always seem to belong exactly where they sit.
Here are some of my favorite places to let them move in:
🌟 On the Christmas tree
🌟 In a tiny Nisse village or winter display
🌟 Peeking out from green plants or garlands
🌟 Tucked into wreaths or small holiday arrangements
🌟 As hostess gifts or small, thoughtful keepsakes
Wherever you place them, they add a little spark of “kos” – that Norwegian feeling of warmth, calm, and good atmosphere.

Small Nisse that bring big Christmas joy
Because they are handmade, it feels extra special to bring them out each year.
When the children were little, one of their favourite things was to give the Nisse new homes around the house – high up, low down, in plants, on shelves – tiny guardians of Christmas.
They also loved that each Nisse had its own personality. No two were ever the same – just as it should be with handmade creations.

Would you like a little Norwegian Christmas feeling in your home?
Then small Norwegian Nisser can truly make a difference.
They take almost no space, they fit anywhere, and they’re perfect to give as gifts to friends and family – and they’re simple to make.
I create a few new ones every year, and they always find a place – either in our home or in the homes of people we care about.
A simple and lovely way to spread real Norwegian Christmas joy.
