My Creative Norwegian Universe
Art by Anne Bente is my creative universe – a place where art, crafts, and heart meet.
Here I share everything I love to create: paintings, sewing projects, handmade decorations, and creative DIY ideas inspired by Nordic simplicity, nature, and the joy of making something with your own hands.
For me, crafting is more than a hobby – it’s a way of life.
It’s about calm, joy, and love. I enjoy creating things that make people smile and perhaps even become part of their own traditions.
And I’d love to share a bit of that inspiration and creativity with you. 🌿’

I’ve been creative for as long as I can remember.
As a child, I could spend hours drawing and painting, and as a teenager I started sewing my own clothes because I wanted something unique – something no one else had.
Creativity runs in my family.
My grandmother was a seamstress, and my mother has always sewn and knitted.
But I was the curious one – the one who loves to explore new techniques, try different styles, and let inspiration lead the way.
Over the years, I’ve sewn endless meters of fabric – from clothing and patchwork cushions to large quilts.
I’ve created thousands of handmade Christmas gnomes, designed greeting cards, run my own craft shop and stamp design brand for more than ten years, and explored everything from scrapbooking and crochet to knitting.
These days, I also paint abstract acrylics – but one thing has always stayed the same: the joy of creating with my hands.

Norway is a source of inspiration
When I’m not working or creating, you’ll often find me traveling in our motorhome — exploring Norway’s beautiful landscapes and the hidden corners of Europe. I love discovering new places, walking in nature, and hiking to those breathtaking viewpoints that make you stop and just take it all in.

✨ Magic Christmas Time in Norway
When Christmas approaches, I always bring out my crafting supplies.
That’s when the magic begins — I sit down with my tiny nisser (Christmas gnomes) and start sewing little nisse children, mothers, and fathers. Each one turns out a bit different, with its own charm and personality – and that’s what I love most about them.
In our family, everyone has their own little Christmas village filled with my handmade gnomes — some live on the mantelpiece, others in the windowsill, and every year, new family members join.

After creating well over a thousand of these small Norwegian gnomes, I’ve also sold quite a few at local Christmas markets and to friends of friends.
Some of them have even travelled far — to Australia, the USA, and even into the home of a former Norwegian Prime Minister.
I love the thought that each December, people around the world unpack their little handmade gnomes, find them the perfect spot, and smile. There’s a lot of Christmas joy in one tiny nisse. 🎅✨

Handmade with love – from me to you. 💛
Creativity has always been my favorite way to connect — with tradition, with nature, and with people.
Through every season, I keep exploring, learning, and creating — not because I have to, but because I can’t imagine life any other way.
If my art and crafts bring you even a spark of inspiration, then I’ve created exactly what I hoped for.
That’s what Art by Anne Bente is all about: sharing ideas, handmade joy, and the beauty of creating something real.
Thank you for being here — and welcome to my creative world. 🌸
With love from beautiful Norway,
Anne Bente
